Members are encouraged to attend Thursday lunch meetings whenever they can. They are an opportunity for fellowship, to hear interesting speakers, and to catch up with our Club activities.

Pictured is the new, upgraded, bike repair station sponsored by Port Otago and recently installed by the Town & Country projects group on the West Harbour cycleway. The original station will be repaired and reused in a less hostile environment.
Incognito Art
Resulting from the survey of members conducted in April, a committee has begun to organise an Incognito Art fundraiser.
The committee is seeking donations of A4 artworks which will be sold anonymously - Some of the artists may be high profile professionals, some may be semi professional , e.g may belong to an art club, some may be well known public figures, but not known for being an artist, and some of the artists could be anyone. Do you have any artistic contacts who you could approach regarding donating a piece of their work? Sarah has circulated a suggested letter but feel free to use your own words.
John Blennerhassett
John Blennerhassett passed on 29 June 2022 aged 89 years, at home in Wanaka. He was a Past President of the club (1990-91) and a Paul Harris Fellow. A tribute to his contribution to Rotary and the community was paid by Brian Daniels at last weeks meeting.
Honorary Members
The nature of honorary membership of the club was changed a while back and now reflects the esteem in which we hold a former club member who for one reason or another is no longer able to actively participate but who we desire to keep connected to the club. Gillian Bremner, Graeme Chesney, Les Green, Garth Lucas, Peter Thomson and Bill Thompson have been invited to become Honorary members for the coming year.

Milton Tramping programme
The Milton Rotary Tramping Club has released it's programme of Tramps and other Adventures for the 2023 Summer Season including Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail, Catlins/Tautuku Lodge, Clutha River Cycle Trail, Kepler Track, Stewart Island/Rakiura, Humpridge, Mt Aspiring Lodge The programme can be found at www.otagorotarytrusttramps.org.nz/Programme

Bruce Cowan JP
Bruce was sworn in as a Justice of the Peace last week at a ceremony in the Dunedin Courthouse.
The main roles of JPs are:
witnessing signatures on documents;
certifying copies of documents;
completing declarations (including statutory declarations), affidavits or affirmations;
swearing affidavits or affirming affirmations.
Being a JP is a voluntary position - no charge is made and no payment received.

Bruce Cowan wears so many Rotary hats that he must feel like Cerberus, the multi-headed dog that guards the gate to Hades (in Greek Mythology).
This week he will outline the pilot project to change the way Rotary is organised in Australia, NZ and the Pacific.
